Timber ReUse Community Enterprise

TRUCE was set up by Forum 21 in 2005.

TRUCE specialises in recycling timber that has been
diverted from the waste stream so as to reduce the
amount of material going into landfill. Although all our timber could potentially have been thrown away, much is new and unused. This is ideal for anyone thinking of specifying reuse materials for their Eco build project.

A range of wood of different types and sizes is available for DIY projects, as well as products made specially at TRUCE, such as greenhives for storing rubbish bins or composting, decking and planters.

TRUCE has two outlets for its products:

  • Watchet - shop open on Saturday mornings
  • Minehead - 27 Brunel Way, open throughout the week

West Somerset Clutter Busters

Clutter Busters is a local group that helps you to re-home household items you no longer need. You can also use it to find things that you want yourself. It is the local West Somerset version of Freecycle and Freegle.

How does it work?

You post a message to the group e-mail address, and, after being checked by the moderator, it is automatically forwarded to everyone who is in the group. Your message might say something like Offered: 2-man tent, Watchet. If someone wants your tent, they will E-mail you and you can make arrangements for them to collect it. No money changes hands - everything offered has to be free.

Clutter Busters uses the Yahoo Groups system to keep track of membership and send out the messages. You don't have to join Yahoo, but it does have some advantages - namely that you have the option of viewing messages on the website instead of having them fill up your e-mail inbox.

Joining Clutter Busters

There are several different ways to join the group, but this method is the easiest as you don't have to bother with joining Yahoo.

  1. Send an e-mail to the following address: west-somerset-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
You don't have to write anything in the message, just leave it blank.
  2. When you receive an Email asking you to confirm, reply to the message without writing anything.
(To reply to the message, click Reply, then Send.)

That's it.  When you have done this you are a member.

NOTE:  If you are already a member of Yahoo, don't do it this way - go to the Clutter Busters  website and click on Join This Group instead.

West Somerset District Council

Information about the recycling services in West Someset is available on West Somerset District Council's own website under Refuse. Waste in West Somerset is managed by the Somerset Waste Partnership.  Information about what can be recycled and times and dates of collections is available on the Somerset Waste Partnership website. (This page was very useful during the snow because it was updated with up-to-date information about collections.)
